20 Years Forward
We must be good ancestors now for future generations of Kansans. We’re committed to making our state the best in the nation to raise a child. That means developing informed decision-makers and helping Kansans understand and embrace the idea that the health of each of us is affected by the health of all of us. The future of our programs reflects these goals and desires.

Children’s Health
We focus on early childhood development, children’s health issues, education and parenting.
By the year 2025:
  • Kansas children will enter kindergarten ready to learn.
  • Kansas will have the healthiest children in the nation.
  • Kansas will be recognized as the education state.
  • Kansas children will have nurturing, skilled parents and other caring adults in their lives.

Leadership
We focus on leadership development, philanthropic leadership and civic engagement.
By the year 2025:
  • Communities throughout Kansas will have trained, informed, health-conscious and effective leaders.
  • Kansas will have elected leaders that are caring, contributing, thoughtful, tolerant, health-conscious and informed.
  • Effective community-based adult leadership programs will exist throughout the state.
  • Kansans will value leadership and respect positional leaders.
  • We will celebrate the success of our nationally recognized Leadership Center.
  • Philanthropy will be recognized as a component of American democracy.
  • Kansas will be a vibrant, healthy, philanthropic state.
  • Kansas communities will be rich with healthy, connected and engaged citizens.

Public Health
We focus on public-health leadership development, health promotion/disease prevention and infrastructure development.
By the year 2025:
  • Kansas will have effective leaders in the public-health system.
  • Kansas will be the healthiest state in the nation.
  • Kansas will have an integrated, comprehensive and best-of-class public-health system.

Policy
We focus on informed decision-making.
By the year 2025:
  • Kansas leaders will make informed health-related decisions by using readily available, vetted research and health data.
  • We will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Kansas Health Institute, which will be a nationally recognized health-policy institute.
