One of the Kansas Health Foundation’s cornerstones for the past 10 years has been leadership training, because giving Kansans the skills and confidence to become involved strengthens the fabric of their communities.
The Kansas Health Foundation started funding the Kansas Community Leadership Initiative in 1999. “This project sowed seeds of confidence, teamwork and vision, and in the past 10 years, those seeds have blossomed into an array of amazing changes across our state,” says Steve Coen, president and CEO of the Foundation.
“The Foundation has invested more than $2.1 million in the KCLI training program as well as $6.2 million in leadership endowments at community foundations throughout Kansas, and over the past decade that money has helped more than 40 communities grow leaders, tackle problems and improve the health and well-being of Kansans from all walks of life,” Coen says. “We wholeheartedly believe that this investment in KCLI will continue to pay dividends throughout Kansas for generations to come.”
We recently released our 10-year progress report on this program, and there are so many success stories from KCLI that it was difficult for us to decide which five communities to highlight in this report. That’s why we created an easy way for anyone who has been involved in KCLI to share their stories. Click here to view a Flash movie of our report and upload your own stories, photos and videos about what KCLI has done to improve life in your community.
